Sarova Shaba is a luxurious lodge set in "Born Free" country (as well as the filming location of Survivor III), where the glories of nature are concentrated in this semi-desert oasis. Spring water flows throughout the lodge to form beautiful water cascades that sparkle into Uaso Nyiro river.
Unique to this area in Kenya are reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. The area also hosts lions, cheetah, elephants, buffalos and leopards, other big game and over 100 species of birds.
A total of 80 luxury thatch-roofed bedrooms, all tastefully furnished with local material of Mazera Stone and timber offcut walls, face the river, each with sumptuous bathrooms en-suite. For ultimate luxury the lodge has a Superior Suite with private jacuzzi and 4 junior Suites to complete the variety of accommodation offered.
Lodge facilities include an open-air restaurant overlooking the river, uniquely designed swimming pool, bars and curio shop. The serene oasis where the lodge is situated is also famous for the crocodiles that live in the Uaso Nyiro River. Guests have the opportunity to see these reptiles from the safety of a viewing platform overlooking the river within the lodge's grounds.
Traditional Samburu dancers offer an exotic spectacle. For a visitor to Joy Adamson's world, nothing beats Sarova Shaba.
